We are looking for a Project Manager, to work out of one of our offices in Stockton, Warrington or Westlakes Industrial Estate.

A Control Systems Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and successful delivery of control systems projects from inception through to completion. This role requires close collaboration with the engineering team(s) and quality assurance, to ensure that all project objectives are met within scope, time, and budget. You will manage stakeholder expectations, mitigate project risks, and lead the team to deliver high-quality solutions that meet client requirements, specifications, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and milestones for control systems projects, outlining the sequence of activities required to meet project goals.

  • Budget Management: Establish and monitor project budgets, manage financial forecasts, and ensure cost-effective use of resources to achieve financial targets. Identify and manage project changes to programme and commercial activities.

  • Team Leadership and Coordination: Lead and coordinate the project team to deliver control systems solutions on time and within budget.

  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies; proactively monitor and address issues to minimize impacts on project timelines and budgets.

  • Client and Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring effective communication and alignment on project goals, timelines, and deliverables. Regularly update stakeholders on project status.

  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure control systems meet project specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer standards.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project status reports, risk logs, change orders, and financial summaries; ensure accurate record-keeping throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Vendor and Subcontractor Management: Manage relationships with vendors and subcontractors, ensuring timely delivery of components, services, and support.

  • Project Closeout and Review: Conduct project closeout meetings, ensuring all deliverables are met, documentation is completed, and lessons learned are recorded for continuous improvement.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.

  • Previous experience in managing control systems or engineering projects, with a strong track record of successful project delivery.

  • APM or other relevant project management certification.

  • Solid understanding of control systems, including PLCs, SCADA & HMI, with experience managing projects involving these systems.

  • Strong financial acumen, with experience in managing project budgets, forecasting, and controlling costs.

  • Proficiency in project management software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar tools.

  • Experience in risk identification, assessment, and mitigation; able to proactively address potential project challenges.
