Monitoring Analysis Team Leader Team / Directorate:Evidence, Policy & Permitting / Monitoring Analysis Startingsalary: £52,268 rising to £57,726 per annum through annualincrements being paid each year (pro rata for part time applicants)Contract type: Permanent Work pattern: Full time, 37 hours per week(Part time, annualised hours, compressed hours or term time workingconsidered - discussions at interview stage welcome) Post number:201279 The role As the leader of the Monitoring Analysis Team, youwill play a pivotal role in driving innovation and excellence inenvironmental data analysis within Natural Resources Wales (NRW).Guided by our core values, you will spearhead the delivery ofstrategic programmes focused on complex and advanced data analysis,synthesis, and optimisation of monitoring networks. Your work willensure the highest quality analytical outputs, contributing tonational reports and key environmental indicators. In this role,you will lead the development of cutting-edge approaches to datacapture and analysis, including advancing NRW s expertise in remotesensing. Collaborating closely with government officials andnational stakeholders across Wales and the UK, you will championthe effective use of NRW s environmental data to support informeddecision-making. You will also oversee the management and qualityassurance of NRW s water chemistry, water ecology, and fisheriesdata, as well as the systems where this information is stored.Reporting to the Monitoring and Reporting Manager within theKnowledge and Evidence Department, you will line-manage a team ofeight skilled technical professionals, specialising in dataanalysis, management, and remote sensing. As an organisation wesupport flexible working. You will be contracted to the nearest NRWoffice to your home and a suitable hybrid working pattern will beagreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings ortraining will be planned in advance. What you will do Lead and manage a teamof technical specialists undertaking complex programmes of advanceddata and evidence analysis to inform NRW s monitoring strategy andprogrammes, and to provide quality-assured outputs for inclusion innational environmental reports and indicators. Be responsible fordelivery of the team s workplan, maintaining and monitoringperformance against agreed goals and targets. Recruit, manage,coach and motivate staff, maintaining an effective andappropriately skilled, and high performing, team. Commission, lead,and project manage complex programmes of data analysis, evidencesynthesis, and interpretation, working with colleagues across theorganisation, and across a broad range of environmental themes.Oversee the provision of NRW s end to end expert remote sensingservice, with a focus on the application and analysis of satelliteimagery. Interact with and influence a range of government, agencyand partner bodies working on analytical projects relating tomonitoring and environmental reporting at Wales, UK and Europeanlevels, often taking a lead role. Be a specialist lead for dataanalysis and evidence synthesis, providing expert advice andguidance to staff across the business. Lead the development of newand innovative monitoring and analytical methods to drive forwardefficiency and improvements to NRW s monitoring and environmentalreporting. Your qualifications, experience, knowledgeand skills In your application and interview you will be asked todemonstrate the following skills and experience using the STARmethod . 1. You will have previous experience of leading andmanaging teams and complex technical projects. 2. You will havesubstantial and in-depth technical knowledge and experience in thefields of data analysis, evidence synthesis, and data management,including a sound understanding of statistical methods and use ofstatistical applications. 3. You will have previous experience ofworking at national and UK levels managing a portfolio of workprogrammes related to monitoring and analysis. 4. You will be aconfident and skilled communicator with good inter-personal skills.5. You will have well-developed analytical and problem-solvingskills, with the ability to extract key information and presentthis in a clear and concise manner to a range of audiences.
