Supply Chain Manager

Belcan is hiring a Supply Chain Lead on a Permanent basis for our site in Cheltenham - GL51 8LX.

Office based Monday to Thursday, with Friday Half day. 39 Hours a week.

Our Cheltenham team delivers build-to-print test equipment and cable harnessing and assembly, as well as bespoke builds and market leading life-cycle approaches to test systems.

Also supporting our London colleagues who provide multi-disciplinary design engineering, multi-vendor systems delivery, operational technology (OT) cyber security, and technical safety compliance.

Job Purpose:

To ensure that the purchasing function is managed to achieve agreed delivery, quality and cost targets. To include the sourcing and purchasing of materials, components, and services required for production.

Ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to secure favourable pricing and terms.

Key Duties:

Negotiating and agreeing contracts and monitoring their progress, checking the quality of service provided throughout the supply chain.
Negotiate with suppliers to secure better prices and terms.
Sourcing alternative supply options and new product opportunities and savings.
Creating and updating Bills of Material.
Raising and issuing of purchase orders - PO.
Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure adequate stock levels.
Analyse market trends to determine the most competitive prices.
Update and maintain purchasing records and data.
Ensure compliance with procurement policies and regulations.
Training and mentoring Supply Chain Coordinator (no line management duties).
Non-Conformance & CAPA Management.
Conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality.
Identify and onboard potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, performing supplier audits and evaluations, and building and maintaining good relationships with them.
Support Engineering to bring projects in on purchasing budget
Support to quoting activities for Engineering
Support project management with Engineering team
Planning of supply chain milestones and forward workload planning

Experience and Skills - essential

Previous buying experience in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of supply chain management and procurement strategies
IT skills to include MS office, order/invoice systems, data entry and manipulation
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Inventory control
Familiarity with supplier evaluation and performance management

Experience and Skills - desirable

Electronics buying experience
Degree in relevant discipline
CIPS professional qualification
Experience of conducting supplier audits
