Job Title: Production Team Leader (CNC Turning)
Location: Pudsey
Salary: £17.64 - £18.98 per hour, with shift allowance of 26% every other week
Job type: Full Time, Permanent. Shifts, 6am - 2pm Monday to Thursday and 6am - 12.30pm week 1, and 2pm - 11.45pm Monday to Thursday week 2 (4-day week)

  • Local Subsidiary of a global group based in Germany (€1.2 billion turnover, 70 sites around the globe, 8000 employees)
  • Produces and sells Carbon components and products for the British Isles Markets
  • Main customers are Aerospace, Chemical and Process Industries, Industrial and Electrical Application Industries
    The Role:
    The Team Leader is both a line manager for their production team, as well as a trained professional working on the shop floor.
    They lead their team through professional expertise and exemplary conduct.
    They work closely in a small management team with Production, Logistics, Quality and Product Management to master the many demands of the production section; day- to- day output and personnel management, training and qualifications issues, machines management, process set-up and improvement.
    By their diligent work our products get the high technical standard and fulfil our customers' need for quality and reliability. As part of the production team they work adeptly and efficiently, including set- up of CNC programs, feeding machines, checking products' dimensions manually (in- process) and/ or using CMM machines.

    Key Responsibilities:
  • General supervision duties
  • Organisation of shifts, holidays, etc.
  • Monitoring of overtime/ absenteeism
  • Disciplinary actions if necessary (working closely with the Personnel)
  • Interviewing applicants/ laying off workshop staff
  • Evaluation of personnel performance for Skills Matrix
  • Training and/ or supervision of training and qualifications on shop floor
  • Receipt of works orders and raw materials (by cell) from Logistics
  • Allocation of work loads for machines and shop floor personnel (in co-operation with Logistics)
  • Monitoring work in progress
  • Pursuing and pushing fast and/ or late orders
  • Co- operation with Despatch and Logistics on finished/ out- going products
  • Initiate and manage or delegate improvement projects
  • Read drawings and creates CNC programs accordingly
  • Setting up and programming CNC machines (Mazak)
  • First- off dimensional tests on new programs
  • Feeds and runs CNC machines
  • In-process controls using manual devices (gauges, micrometer)
  • Finished product inspections using CNC CMM machines
  • Problem- aware, active handling of CNC machines and other equipment
  • Creating, raise and start works orders in SAP (BOM, routings)
  • Reporting in SAP and on paper
  • Evolution of own skills and techniques
  • High standard of quality and performance
  • Methodical skills like 5S or CIP
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and work independently
  • Will to improve him-/ herself and the work environment
    Further Duties:
  • Factory Key holder
  • Monitors professional standards of team and workshop
  • Monitors Health and Safety, etc.
  • Monitors 5S and CIP
