The Opportunity
Our client is a high-technology manufacturing business with operations in the UK and overseas. Very well-established and well-known, it has a global reputation for market-leading excellence and for the efficacy of its products mainly sold into the Aerospace and Defence sector. Its success is due to a continuing dedication to innovation, in product development, and in retaining and reinvesting to maintain a competitive edge.
The appointee will lead all sales, contracting and commercial management activities in the International markets. Requiring a “hands-on” individual the role calls for someone who is both strategically sales oriented yet detailed focus.
The Role

  • As a key member of the commercial team you will contribute to functional strategy and business planning.
  • Manage all commercial aspects of sales, such as bid and proposal preparation including credit-worthiness and foreign currency risk mitigation.
  • Work closely with colleagues in new business development by possessing a detailed understanding of customer commercial needs and financial circumstances.
  • Lead negotiations with strategically important customers ensuring the development and design of financially sound and legally compliant contracts.
  • Build key relationships both internally and with customers and ensuring compliance and communication of contractual obligations.
  • Work closely with other internal functions to ensure on-time and right first time deliveries.
    The Candidate
  • Commercially astute and of degree calibre you will have extensive contract negotiation and management experience gained ideally in the international Aerospace and Defence sector.
  • A good working knowledge of global export regulations, procurement procedures and practices.
  • A competent negotiator able to develop and maintain key relationships with customers and major contractors at all levels.
  • An understanding of International Military contracts and regulations would be an advantage.
  • The capability to manage a successful team with excellent motivation, performance management, development and leadership skills.
  • A strategic thinker with a high attention to detail able to deal at all levels across a wide spectrum of international cultures
