About the RoleAs a CNC Machinist, you'll be responsible for setting, operating and monitoring CNC machinery to manufacture precision-engineered components to exact customer specifications. Working from engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation, you'll ensure components are produced safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
You'll work closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to support on-time delivery while maintaining exceptional levels of accuracy and workmanship.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate CNC milling and/or turning machines to manufacture precision components.
- Produce components to engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements.
- Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.
- Select and change tooling, offsets and fixtures as required.
- Monitor machining operations to ensure quality, consistency and efficiency.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets and manufacturing documentation.
- Identify and report machining or quality issues, supporting corrective actions where required.
- Complete production documentation accurately and maintain full traceability.
- Carry out routine machine maintenance and ensure equipment is kept clean and in good working order.
- Work in accordance with company Quality Management System and Health & Safety procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality and manufacturing performance.
About YouWe're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience as a CNC Machinist, Setter or Operator within a precision engineering environment.
- Experience operating CNC milling and/or turning machines.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience using a range of precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers and gauges.
- A strong understanding of machining processes, tooling and inspection techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- A proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Desirable Experience- Experience within the aerospace, defence or other highly regulated manufacturing industries.
- Experience machining aluminium, stainless steel, titanium, Inconel or other specialist materials.
- Knowledge of Fanuc, Heidenhain, Siemens or Mazatrol CNC control systems.
- Experience working to tight tolerances and complex engineering drawings.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
