Salary:£47,683 - £52,426

What you'll be doing:

The successful candidate will be expected to support the following activities that contribute to the development of the GCAP Mission System, applying a Model Based Systems Engineering approach:

  • Concept Development
  • Architecture Design
  • Requirements Analysis & management
  • Physical System Design (Computing Hardware and Interfaces)
  • Safety Requirement Analysis & Design
  • Security Requirement Analysis & Design

The role will also require you to:

  • Provide Technical experience to support a growing and developing team
  • Lead and support team meetings / DSUMs / Agile reviews
  • Support the creation of Engineering documents that form part of the Systems Engineering process
  • Drive and coordinate collaboration with team members, multi-disciplinary internal specialists, and external partners
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with international partners from Japan and Italy

Your skills and experiences:

  • A degree in a STEM subject or equivalent relevant experience
  • Systems Engineering and Engineering lifecycle experience
  • Ability to work in a multi-partner / multi-national environment
  • Knowledge of systems engineering methods and tools (e.g. UML/SysML, CAMEO, MBSE)
  • Avionics System Development experience (desirable but not essential)

The Mission Systems Delivery team:

You will be part of the Mission Systems Delivery Team (MSDT) delivering the Mission System design for the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP). The team uses an agile work planning process to develop mission system concept options, architectures and designs for the GCAP Mission System. The MSDT Tier 3 Architecting and Concept Integration team is responsible for developing the following areas:

Survivability; Cockpit/HMI; Stores Management; Communications; Navigation; Sensors and Non-Kinetic Effects; Electronic Warfare; Health Management; Mission Management.

The role is in the North West of England, based at our Warton site. There is limited amount of Hybrid working that enables some home working. There will also be opportunities to work at other BAE Systems locations throughout the UK as well as Customer and Industry Partner sites across the UK, Italy and Japan. Flexibility is key to delivering this role.
