About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a global leader in complex engineering solutions based near Wolverhampton.

This is a unique opportunity to work on Bespoke Heavy Engineering Projects (Welded, Fabricated & Machined Machinery & Equipment), supporting projects across the full design lifecycle-from FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) to final delivery. You'll play a key role in the design and manufacture of high-integrity systems, applying your expertise in CAD, FEA, and engineering standards to deliver safe, innovative, and efficient solutions.

Key Responsibilities of Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Lead the mechanical design of custom-engineered systems for industrial and safety-critical applications.
Deliver projects through the full design lifecycle, from concept and FEED to detailed design and manufacture.
Apply CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and FEA (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) tools to develop and validate designs.
Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards (ASME, BS EN, RCC-M, etc.) in a regulated environment.
Mentor and lead junior engineers, promoting technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project managers, manufacturing, and quality assurance.

What We're Looking For

Proven experience as a Mechanical Design / Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in a regulated industry (e.g., defence, oil & gas, aerospace, energy, etc.).
Strong background in bespoke machinery, heavy engineering systems, or process equipment.
Proficiency in 3D CAD and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
Ideally possess a solid understanding of FEED, design for manufacture (DFM), and lifecycle engineering.
Experience working to safety-critical standards in sectors such as Oil & Gas, Energy, Pharmaceutical, Defence, or Marine.
Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.
