Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Hitchin £50,000 – £60,000 Permanent On-site (5 days/week)

This growing engineering business near Hitchin designs and builds bespoke machinery for a wide range of sectors including automotive, aerospace, logistics, and general manufacturing. What you’ll be doing:
Lead the design of special purpose machinery, from blank sheet to build, using SolidWorks

Produce 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and BOMs

Work closely with the shop floor team to see your designs come to life

Take ownership of your projects – no micromanagement, just support when you need it

Solve real-world problems with practical, precision-engineered solutions

What they’re looking for:
5 years’ experience in mechanical design of bespoke machinery, automation systems, or special purpose equipment

Strong SolidWorks skills

Someone confident working independently, taking projects from concept to completion

Based within a reasonable daily commute of Hitchin (approx. 45 mins max)

Enjoys working in a close-knit, collaborative, and workshop-facing environment
