Senior Design Engineer

Orion is working with a market-leading client that is seeking a highly motivated Senior Design Engineer to join their dynamic Engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to lead strategic technical projects and contribute to the development of innovative aerospace products within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Design Engineer:

Manage internal technical projects aligned with product development strategies, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure effective project planning, execution, and communication.
Support proposal development and participate in supplier/customer meetings as needed.
Contribute to design reviews, certification, and qualification test activities.
Prepare, review, and approve design, qualification, and certification documentation, including submissions to airworthiness authorities.
Approve drawings and modifications using CAD and data management systems
Assist in developing tools and processes to improve efficiency across Engineering and other departments. 

Skills & Experience of the Senior Design Engineer:

Proficiency in 3D CAD systems.
Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings and schematics.
Strong grasp of engineering principles, materials, mechanisms, and reliability.
Experience designing electromechanical systems or actuators.
Understanding of precision tolerances, bearings, and lubricants.
Understanding of gear and actuation system design.
Full Right to Work in the UK.
