Job Title: Quality Inspector
Location: Scunthorpe
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum
Working Hours: Days Shift – 6:00am to 2:00pm (Monday to Thursday), 6:00am to 12:00pm (Friday)
Overtime:Available and paid at enhanced rates

About the Role

A well-established rail engineering and manufacturing business in Scunthorpe is seeking a dedicated and detail-focused Quality Inspector to join their team. The company specialises in the design and manufacture of high-integrity railway components, including couplers, bogies, and associated assemblies.

This role plays a key part in ensuring that all products meet rigorous industry standards and customer expectations, contributing to the business's strong reputation for quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out in-process and final inspections on railway components such as couplers and bogies

  • Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, verniers, height gauges, and bore gauges

  • Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications

  • Identify and report non-conformances; assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and quality control checks

  • Work closely with production, engineering, and quality assurance teams

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and relevant rail industry standards

  • Support internal audits and customer inspections when required

    Candidate Requirements

    Essential:

  • Experience in a similar Quality Inspector role within an engineering or manufacturing environment

  • Proficiency with a variety of mechanical inspection tools and equipment

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications

  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving

  • Good communication and team collaboration skills

    Desirable:

  • Background in rail, aerospace, defence, or automotive sectors

  • Familiarity with railway quality and safety standards

  • Experience with CMM or digital inspection systems

  • Internal auditing experience or relevant quality-related qualifications
