The Opportunity
Our client is a leading multidiscipline engineering and building contractor. With expertise in the Water, Energy, Pharmaceutical and Food/Beverage markets, they are involved in some of the largest projects in the UK at the moment.
due to successful project expansion, they are currently searching for an experienced Proposals Engineer, or a Junior Proposals Engineer to join their dynamic team out of their Grangemouth or Warrington offices.

The role
As a Proposals Engineer, you will be providing clients with detailed technical estimations and bids for their control systems integrations (PLC, HMI, SCADA and Telemetry).

For Junior candidates, a mentoring program will be put in place as well as a comprehensive training schedule.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
Carry out the initial review of the scope and technical requirements of the tender enquiry package.
You will be liaising closely with various engineering teams around the organisation, as well as clients and other external stakeholders throughout the bid process.
Notify senior management team and record any significant commercial, technical, or contractual risks associated with the enquiry. These will be recorded and reviewed/mitigated before the client submission.
Liaise with client throughout the bid process to clarify requirements before preparing and submitting the proposal.
Preparation of accurate and competitive labour and material costings utilising the estimating package/costs sheets. This may require obtaining sub-contractor/supplier pricing.
Liaise with engineering to obtain relevant technical information, clarify requirements, obtain estimates, and to agree the proposed solution.
Organise and take part in the internal technical review of the proposal costings.
Following the cost review, producing a high quality and professional technical proposal document.
Ensure that the tender proposal is clear, unambiguous and protects the company’s commercial position.
The design responsibility and deliverable requirements will be clearly identified and documented in the technical proposal.
Attend site visits and review meetings with Client, as required.
Ensure that proposals are followed up at agreed intervals with the clients and this is recorded in the CRM (such as expected order date, competitive position etc). This will include updating the Key Account Manager to the status of the bid, where required.
Attend an internal kick-off meeting with the project team should the tender be successful.
Involvement with continuous improvement, innovation and estimating tool developments.You will have the following qualifications & experience
PLC Control systems.
HMI.
SCADA hardware selection.
definition.
project lifecycle.
Control system documentation and programming.
For a junior role, basic knowledge of the above will be acceptable.
Understanding of network design requirements for Control Systems.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation and with clients.
NVQ Level 3 Engineering or equivalent.It’s great if you also have the following
Telemetry Systems as used within the Water Industry.
Knowledge of Telemetry hardware, communication mediums between site and the clients Telemetry Master Station (Top End) and the methodology of commissioning Telemetry systems on water sites.
Possessing, or working towards, a relevant engineering degree or equivalent.
Using pricing routines to aid in the creation of compensation event quotations (CEQ’S) and framework compliant tenders.
Creation and submission of estimating proforma’s and the subsequent population of the benchmark estimating pricing portal to ensure that our bids are framework compliant.Get in touch now
