With an international (European and American) footprint producing products used across commercial aerospace, defence, automotive and rail, their specialisms spans machining, welding, forming, finishing, measurement, inspection and quality testing.
Your Role:
We are looking for a hands-on production lead to ensure production deadlines are met and support the resolution of any production issues.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Production, Planning and Purchasing Manager the role is to assist in the management of work through the factory to ensure customer delivery dates are met. Assist in leading, motivating, developing and managing production staff in order to maximise efficiency and effectiveness to achieve best performance in meeting company requirements. Take a lead role in communicating priorities within production areas and providing feedback to other business departments on product progress across a range of departments and processes. Plan, develop and implement strategies for operational areas regarding improvements, manning levels, available capacity, training and development, team and individual performance, providing feedback on issues regarding each of these key areas. Assist in managing machine breakdowns with a focus on recovering lost time. Ensure production related issues are communicated to all stakeholders in a timely and detailed manor. Manage jobs for multiple customers through multi operation shop floor areas, providing clear priorities in line with production targets. Previous experience in the aerospace industry would be advantageous. Own SQCDP board for the department, hosting twice weekly stand ups reporting on cell level metrics and progress, liaising with internal departments to ensure timely action is taken when concerns or negative trend are identified. Take a lead role in change management. Identify areas for improvement and embed a positive change attitude through the business. Ensure that all manufacturing staff comply with company procedures regarding, safety, quality, and all other related policies and procedures, during their shifts.
Qualification & Experience:
Engineering/Manufacturing qualification (ideally HNC or above). Excellent communication skills. Work effectively under pressure. Demonstrable background in fast paced manufacturing / engineering environment. Experience of working with sheet metal components, fabrications and machined components. At least 5 years' experience in a supervisory position. Confident in dealing with all aspects of people management Demonstrable involvement with continuous improvement activities. Proficient in the use of MS Office software.
