Over the last 12months we have made great progress in developing a new generationof products that will use cutting-edge technologies to drive ourmission to transform eye care and are now looking for a ReliabilityEngineer to continue the momentum, bringing your experience andideas with you. You and the role We would love it if you came froma medical devices, automotive or defence/aerospace background asthese industries translate well to what we do and how we work. Thisrole would suit a detail-orientated person who can developcomprehensive reliability test plans suitable for complexophthalmic systems. You will be able to identify criticalreliability metrics and define accelerated life testing (ALT)protocols to ensure the continued longevity and durability of ourproducts. You will be adept at conducting FMEA along with designingand executing HALT/HASS tests to identify design weaknesses thatcould impact reliability. You should be comfortable collaboratingwith engineering teams to implement corrective actions and designimprovements. Day-to-day you will also be developing reliabilitydemonstration tests and be able to analyse the data created by suchtests to inform your decision-making. The ideal candidate will haveexperience of modelling techniques such as Weibull analysis,reliability block diagrams and Monte Carlo simulations as well asimplementing ESS techniques and investigating reliability-relatedfailures encountered during testing. All of the above feeds intoour cross-functional teams so we need someone who is a confidentcommunicator, able to push back when necessary and able to relaytechnical information clearly and concisely. Your reliabilityreports will be communicated to various stakeholders and used toprovide guidance on reliability improvement strategies. From aneducational perspective, you will have a Bachelor’s degree inElectrical, Mechanical or Optical Engineering or related field.Even better would be a Masters degree. Above all, you will have astrong background in reliability engineering, system engineering,and multidisciplinary integration. What else? You need to be ableto demonstrate familiarity with reliability standards andregulations (e.g. MIL-HDBK-217F and Telcordia SR-332). We wouldlove to see experience with industry standards and regulationsrelated to medical devices (e.g., FDA regulations, IEC 60601) orautomotive products (e.g., ISO 26262, AEC-Q100).
