Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.

The Role:

The Module Leader will be responsible for developing door trims project along with the customer design/styling team and expected to cover all the feasibilities for the given Integration Concept surfaces to take it to CMF Theme Surfaces with FHP & PHPs defined, the scope of work will cover the content of BIW/Exterior and Interior commodities shared in the brief.

Responsible for the technical delivery, project plan Vs actuals, delivery quality, right first time approach, project reporting and supporting governance of all client engagements.

Responsible to ensure all technical delivery processes are robustly deployed including project plans, issue tracking/resolution mechanism, stakeholder management, design resource efficiency, project task forecasting, weekly metrics reporting, quality metrics, project roadblock reporting.

Area of Responsibility

  • Understand issues and identify/delegate to correct domain engineers
  • Create and maintain a project plan
  • Use Pulse/ JIRA/ any other relevant project management tool.
  • Ensure robust RCA and logical presentation of facts against issues.
  • Plan & Lead team in technical discussions.
  • Ensure customer issues/escalations are resolved on priority (within expected SLA)
  • Identify Timing & cost risk and help engineer to discuss them into review meeting and get agreements.
  • Ensures delivery throughput commitments meet expected schedule, if not overachieved. Any roadblock to be realized well ahead of schedule so that course correction can be implemented, or back-up can be substituted.
  • You will generate legal, feasible robust design concepts through the development phase. The designs will be optimised before B-release (production tooling).
  • Liaise with Customer testing team to develop robust test plans (DVP) for the validation of the systems. This is to be reviewed / agreed with Customer before validation commences.
  • Module Leader to provide DMU & quality checks for all parts and to feature within B-release readiness checklist.
  • Lead and support relevant engineering investigations through pre-production build phases, identifying route cause and proposing options for technical solutions. (Audit/build/functional/drive feedback/Exec issues etc)

Knowledge / Experience

  • Exceptional project leader, with experience of engineering team management, experience of product design perhaps involving complex systems integration or the use of multiple technologies specially Door Trims
  • Ability to lead the resolution of business, technical and process issues as they arise
  • Excellent organisation skills, prioritising multiple project activities and guiding the team in right direction
  • Proven track record, Experienced in OEM or tier one component delivery
  • Knowledge of change control, product definition and change management processes will also prove invaluable
  • Ability to lead the resolution of business, technical and process issues as they arise
  • Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Degree or above, or equivalent qualification or experience
  • PRINCE2 or equivalent qualification would be beneficial
