Purpose 

Responsible for the planning, modelling, and optimisation of radio spectrum coverage, ensuring reliable and effective spectrum allocation for Arqiva’s broadcast and utility customers. 

Accountabilities 

• Assist in conducting radio spectrum modelling and coverage analysis for both microwave and satellite systems. 

• Support the assessment of spectrum requirements for new bids, changes to products, technologies, or suppliers. 

• Contribute to the development and optimisation of spectrum strategies, ensuring alignment with organisational goals. 

• Perform analysis on coverage data to identify gaps and propose solutions for improved radio spectrum coverage. 

• Support the resolution of operational coverage issues, working closely with senior engineers and other technical teams. 

• Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of spectrum planning activities, ensuring records are up-to-date.

• Conduct field tests and measurements to validate spectrum modelling results. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure spectrum plans meet customer requirements and regulatory standards. 

Skills 

• Spectrum Planning - Understanding of spectrum management and planning techniques, and spectrum modelling tools and software. 

• RF (Spectrum) Engineering - Knowledge of RF principles, especially propagation and modulation techniques 

• Analytical and technical problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues 

• Communication skills - collaborate with cross-functional teams, present technical info and provide training or support 

• Adaptability - flexibility to adapt to changing technologies and work 

• Attention to detail - keen attention to detail in identifying defects and ensuring accuracy

Knowledge & Experience 

• Foundation in spectrum planning, RF engineering principles. 

• Familiarity with spectrum planning tools and software is advantageous. 

• Basic knowledge of regulatory requirements for radio spectrum use is desirable. 

• Foundation in mathematical principles, including probability and statistics, relevant to RF propagation and coverage modelling. 

Qualifications:A degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Mathematics, or a related field
