Due to business growth, we are currently recruiting a Welding Engineer on behalf of our prestigious client in Sheffield on a permanent basis.
The business are highly regarded as leaders in the design, manufacture and supply of valve equipment to a variety of industries including Nuclear, Oil and Gas and Power Generation.
Candidates MUST be qualified to IWS as a minimum with experience in a similar role developing WPQR’s and WPS Documentation. The client is also able to look into offering progressing from IWS to IWT OR IWT to IWE for the right candidate. CSWIP 3.1 qualification would be advantageous
The successful candidate will be required to develop welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to the production process and contract requirements. You will also be required to control welding consumables.
Candidates will primarily be based at Sheffield but may be required to travel to other company sites in the North West as required by the business.

Job Description :

  • Establish good working relationships throughout all levels of the business, as well as production staff to ensure efficient operation of the welding process.
  • Developing welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to the production process and contract requirements.
  • Ensure that all welding and documentation is in accordance with relevant codes/standards and contract requirements.
  • Responsible for carrying out and recording daily, weekly, monthly validation checks in relation to ISO 3834, including welding consumable control and equipment calibrations.
  • Responsible for the production and control of documentation relating to the welding process, including population of weld and NDE logs.
  • Assist with the implementation of and maintenance of quality management system procedures in relation to welding activities.
  • Keeping informed in relation to developments in technology and techniques that may benefit the welding process within the company.
  • Non-conformances – reporting, correcting and investigation.
  • Maintaining and qualification of welders, prolongation and personnel requalification.
  • Other ad-hoc duties as may be required from time to time to assist with the general operation of the facility.
    SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Analyses and uses experience and logical methods to make sound decisions which solve difficult problems.
  • The candidate must have the ability to work as part of a team, and on their own using their own initiative. Where required the operator will, as part of the team culture, develop the skill sets and flexibility required to provide continuous improvement and customer focus.
  • The candidate must be flexible wherever possible to meet the company and customer requirements.
    Qualification /Skills
  • Demonstrable experience working in a similar role
  • Experience in a welding engineering capacity, including project management and communication with the relevant stakeholders.
  • Certified Welding Specialist as a Minimum – IWS
  • CSWIP 3.1 would be an advantage.
  • Experience of working across various sectors including Oil and Gas/ Nuclear/ Aerospace/ Defence would be advantageous
