About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Technology Leader to drive the strategic direction of our Software, Data and Machine Learning teams, who together are building our energy systems modelling platform. Our platform will be the entry point to all of our data and analysis, including our satellite-derived greenhouse gas emissions intelligence for the electricity and heavy industry sectors, our ingested forecast and weather data, and our energy systems modelling capability. Users will be able to self-serve data and develop actionable insights accessed by a browser-based user interface which is supported by an API and Python client library.

You will be responsible for shaping and driving the company’s technology strategy, creating a platform that is a leader in energy system modelling. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and innovative solutions that meet and exceed our stakeholder expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define the technology vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with the company’s business goals
  • Lead, inspire, and grow talented Software, Data and Machine Learning teams
  • Ensure the scalability, security, reliability and cost efficiency of our technology infrastructure
  • Lead on technical architecture and design ensuring that it is scalable, flexible, and robust
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the Technology team
  • Work closely with Product team to ensure alignment with company priorities, execution of the roadmap, facilitate cross-functional collaboration, and drive accountability for deliverables
  • Take a hands-on approach to project management. We are small growing organization which involves wearing many hats and at times willingness to ‘roll up our sleeves’
  • Drive agile methodologies and best practices to optimize product development processes and increase efficiency
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to translate market opportunities into technical solutions

About You

You should be passionate about building software products as well as being deeply curious about energy and the energy transition. Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams, including directly managing managers across cross-functional departments.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in technology and software with proven experience in a senior technology leadership role (e.g., CTO, VP Engineering, or similar).

  • Expertise in data strategies, tooling and architectures

  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and SaaS architecture

  • Experience developing and productionising machine learning and data science workloads

  • Proven track record of successfully building and launching products in a fast-paced, agile environment

  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including agile/scrum, and experience working with cross-functional teams of engineers and product managers.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable product strategies and roadmaps 

  • Strong project management skills
