Overview of the role:


Title:Business Development Manager (with account management), with an 80% focus on business development.

Location:Manchester or London, with travel between both offices. Minimum of two days in the office per week. Occasional travel to Europe expected.

Experience:2-8 years, ideally within an Engineering Consultancy Background.

About the Role

This role offers the opportunity to lead and grow a business unit within an engineering consultancy, operating within a profit-centre model. The primary focus is on business development, with responsibilities spanning client acquisition, technical sales, account management, and resource planning. This position provides the chance to drive significant business growth in the UK and establish long-term client relationships.


Key Responsibilities

  • New Business Development:Identify and secure new projects, expanding the client portfolio through targeted outreach and tailored solutions.
  • Client Acquisition and Expansion:Develop relationships with new clients while also increasing the scope of services offered to existing accounts.
  • Key Account Management:Maintain strong relationships with current clients, ensuring satisfaction and exploring opportunities for further collaboration.
  • HR Resource Planning:Oversee talent allocation for projects, ensuring the right skills are deployed to meet client needs effectively.
  • Team Leadership:Lead and inspire a high-performing team, fostering a culture of professional growth and excellence.
  • Strategic Planning:Contribute to long-term business strategy, including resource allocation, project planning, and market expansion.
  • Performance Management:Provide ongoing feedback and professional development opportunities to enhance team capabilities and align with business goals.
