Are you ready to shape the future of defence communications? We are looking for an innovative and commercially minded Bidding Service Architect to join our Solutions Development team at Airbus Defence and Space.

Reporting directly to the Head of Service Solutions, you will work alongside a dedicated team of technical subject matter experts. Your primary role will be to ensure our service solutions perfectly align with customer requirements and project stakeholder needs across the full spectrum of managed services.

You will be instrumental in crafting compelling, winning customer offers. By deeply understanding our customers' needs, doctrine, and frameworks for Managed Services, you will weave our business drivers, incentives, and win themes into the solution as a "golden thread."

Building trust is at the core of what we do. You will cultivate strong relationships with our customer community by consistently delivering on our promises. This role requires a unique balance: a positive, can-do attitude, a sharp eye for technical detail, and the business acumen to navigate both risks and opportunities.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM

  • Design Leadership: Act as a Managed Service design expert within the Solutions Development team, driving the development of the overarching Service Model in line with secure by design principles.

  • Stakeholder Interface: Serve as a customer and business interface for the solution from the initial sales campaign through to service implementation and transition.

  • Structuring & Costing: Develop the Work Breakdown and Organisation Breakdown Structures, collaborating closely with Finance to develop competitive resource costings.

  • Bid Artefacts: Produce critical customer artefacts, allocated Work Package Descriptions, and comprehensive statements of work for sub-contractors.

  • Solution Articulation: Clearly map the solution against complex customer requirements, effectively managing and articulating Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies, and Opportunities (RAIDO).

  • Resource Delivery: Partner with team leaders and transition staff to ensure resources are fully prepared to deliver services on time, to budget, and at peak performance.

ABOUT YOU

To succeed in this role, you will need a critical eye, strong presentation skills, and the ability to craft clear, compelling arguments.

  • Industry Experience: Experience in defence or government telecommunications, ideally with an understanding of Military Satellite Communication systems and operations.

  • Domain Expertise: Demonstrable expertise in UK MOD and Governmental service requirements for the supply chain delivering complex communication systems.

  • Technical Architecture: A broad and deep understanding of all aspects of managed services and secure by design, with the proven ability to guide and direct technical design specialists.

  • Bid Strategy & Analysis: The ability to assimilate complex customer requirements and translate organisational RAIDO matters into a compelling, viable, and compliant bid submission.

Not a 100% match? No worries! Airbus supports your personal growth with customised development solutions.

HOW WE CAN SUPPORT YOU

Many of our staff work flexibly in many different ways, including part-time. Please talk to us at the interview about the flexibility you need and we’ll always do our best to accommodate your request.

Please let us know if you need us to make any adjustments for the selection process – you can share this with your Talent Acquisition Partner if you are invited to interview. Examples may include (but not exclusive to) accessible facilities; auxiliary aids; room layout, etc. Any information disclosed will be treated in the strictest confidence.

As a Disability Confident Employer, Airbus UK will offer an interview to any applicant that considers themselves to have a disability or long-term condition and meets the minimum criteria of the role (as set out in the job advert). To ‘opt in’, just select the option during your application submission and our Talent Acquisition team will contact you.

Where to Advertise Space Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise space jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards, agency channels and community routes that reach satellite, propulsion and launch talent. The candidate pool spans satellite engineers, propulsion specialists, mission analysts, ground segment software developers, space systems architects and commercial space professionals — a highly specific multidisciplinary community that general job boards are poorly equipped to reach. The strongest space candidates are often embedded in ESA programmes, academic research groups, UK Space Agency-funded projects or established primes, and move between roles through sector-specific networks, industry bodies and conference communities rather than mainstream platforms. This guide, published by UKSpaceJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise space industry roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.
