Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer

Location: Warton – Onsite

Salary £47,683+ dependent of skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

Designing and assisting in the build of prototypes, products and systems suitable for testing, including the development of new products using novel technologies.

Carrying out system and sub-system validation and verification, including supporting system design reviews.

Doing component/interface specification and selection

Application of Control Systems Engineering practices to ensure design safety, reliability, integration and performance requirements are met

Tailoring and developing Systems Engineering practices to suit the needs of a particular project / programme of work

Carrying out problem solving and providing timely corrective actions on all assigned defects and issues

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent experience in a STEM discipline

Knowledge of Systems Engineering and the Engineering Lifecycle, typically experienced in applying subject knowledge in an integrated platform which may involve safety and/or cyber security related activities

Exposure to working with stakeholders outside of the local team, nationally and / or internationally

Desirable

Experience of working on complex computing solutions in areas such as systems management, avionics/IMA based solutions, systems integration, safety/cyber security and / or equivalent complex programmes

Knowledge and experience in Object Oriented design and Model Based engineering tools and techniques would also be advantageous

Awareness of Engineering and business processes, familiarity with implications of decisions on time / cost / quality and be able to support timely and accurate performance reporting

The Integrated Onboard Computing team:

The role is part of the Mission Systems Delivery Team (MSDT), responsible for the design and delivery of the Mission System for the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP). The team follows an agile work planning process to develop mission system concepts, architectures, and designs, ensuring that solutions are innovative, robust, and aligned with programme objectives.

As a key member of the team, you will work closely with the Edgewing teams, contributing to secure and resilient system designs while collaborating across multiple disciplines. You will engage with engineers, architects, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure that mission system designs meet technical, operational, and security requirements.
