MERITUS are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established aerospace manufacturing company supporting complex engineering and manufacturing programmes, delivering high-quality mechanical design solutions across advanced aerospace projects.

SENIOR MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER - AEROSPACE MANUFACTURING - LLANGEFNI - UP TO £50,000 + BENEFITS

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and support of mechanical systems, tooling, and manufacturing solutions within a highly regulated aerospace environment. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and production teams to deliver robust and practical engineering solutions across the full product lifecycle.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with strong 3D CAD experience and a background within aerospace, manufacturing, automotive, defence, or other complex engineering sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation for aerospace manufacturing projects.
  • Support new product introduction, design modifications, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and cost-effective.
  • Participate in design reviews, engineering investigations, and technical problem-solving activities.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, validation, and development activities where required.
  • Maintain engineering documentation in line with company procedures and industry standards.
  • Support engineering change and configuration control processes.
  • Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders on technical engineering matters.
  • Contribute to process improvement and product optimisation initiatives.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior members of the engineering team.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience working as a Mechanical Design Engineer or Senior Mechanical Design Engineer within aerospace, manufacturing, automotive, defence, or similar engineering sectors.
  • Strong 3D CAD experience using SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, Inventor, or similar software.
  • Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and production processes including fabrication, machining, and assembly.
  • Experience working within regulated engineering environments with structured engineering processes.
  • Strong problem-solving and technical analysis skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • HNC/HND or Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
