About the Company
Our client is a leading engineering organisation specialising in advanced RF and high-frequency electronic solutions. Their technology supports critical infrastructure across industries such as telecommunications, aerospace, and defence, working on complex, high-performance systems at the cutting edge of innovation.
The Role
This is a great opportunity for an experienced PCB Layout Engineer to work on complex, high-performance electronic systems. You will play a key role in delivering robust and manufacturable PCB designs, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams across hardware, RF, software, and manufacturing.
This role goes beyond traditional PCB layout - it requires strong engineering understanding, with a focus on performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own PCB layout activities across complex electronic products
  • Translate schematics into high-quality PCB layouts considering electrical, mechanical, and thermal constraints
  • Design with controlled impedance, signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, and EMC in mind
  • Support high-speed interfaces such as Ethernet, DDR, LVDS, PCIe, and JESD204
  • Produce full fabrication and assembly documentation packages
  • Participate in design reviews, DFM/DFA assessments, and risk reviews
  • Verify component footprints, symbols, and libraries
  • Support development of PCB design standards, libraries, and processes
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to resolve design challenges
  • Support prototype builds, bring-up, and issue investigation
Requirements
Essential:
  • Strong PCB layout experience using Altium Designer (Altium 365 desirable)
  • Experience taking designs from schematic through to manufacturing release
  • Solid understanding of PCB stack-up, controlled impedance, signal integrity, and power integrity
  • Experience with mixed-signal, digital, power, and RF-supporting designs
  • Knowledge of PCB fabrication, SMT assembly, and DFM/DFA processes
  • Experience creating and validating component libraries and footprints
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a collaborative environment
Desirable:
  • Experience with RF, microwave, or mmWave PCB design
  • High-speed and multilayer PCB design experience
  • Knowledge of IPC standards and advanced PCB materials
  • Experience with PLM systems and engineering change processes
  • Experience mentoring or contributing to design standards
