Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Location:Yeovil

Salary:£38,518.48 per annum

Shift Pattern:Monday - Thursday 07:00-15:30 | Friday 07:00-12:00

Our client, a global leader in industrial maintenance, is seeking aMechanically Biased Maintenance Technician to support their Yeovil site within a fast-paced, highly regulated aerospace manufacturing setting.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety—taking onfault finding, repairs, fabrication, and contributing tocontinuous improvement in a dynamic production environment.

The Role:

  • Carry out mechanical breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance on industrial machinery
  • Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical systems, with some electrical and control system involvement
  • Dismantle, repair, replace, and test machine components to ensure optimal performance
  • Perform fabrication and machining tasks, supporting maintenance and improvement work
  • Carry out welding (MIG & TIG), fabrication, and manual machining using mills, lathes, and pillar drills, along with sheet metal work to support equipment repair and improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records using CMMS systems
  • Identify and source parts, tools, and consumables
  • Support continuous improvement (CI) projects to enhance performance and reduce downtime
  • Mentor junior technicians and support team development
  • Ensure full compliance withhealth & safety and 5S standards

About You:

With previously experience of working within heavy industry, you'll be a mechanically biased engineer with:

  • Minimum3 years' experience in a mechanical maintenance role
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
  • Good working knowledge ofhydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
  • Proven ability to carry outwelding (MIG & TIG)
  • Experience infabrication and component repair
  • Skilled inmanual machining using mills, lathes, and pillar drills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Experience using tools, workshop machinery, and maintenance equipment

This role would suit someone who has previously worked as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Technician, or Shift Engineer.
