We're looking for aManufacturing Engineer / CNC Programmer to join our highly skilled Engineering team in Romford. You'll be part of a collaborative team of experienced engineers, supporting the manufacture of precision components for the aerospace industry through the development of efficient manufacturing processes and CNC programmes.
About the RoleThis is a varied and hands-on engineering role where you'll be responsible for developing manufacturing processes from concept through to production. You'll create and optimise CNC programmes, design workholding solutions and introduce process improvements that enhance quality, efficiency and productivity.
Working closely with Production, Quality and Engineering teams, you'll play a key role in ensuring new and existing components are manufactured safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and optimise CNC programmes for 3, 4 and 5-axis machining centres.
- Design and develop workholding, jigs and fixtures to support efficient production and first-time success.
- Create manufacturing processes and methods that meet engineering and customer requirements.
- Own and maintain supporting manufacturing data, including production routings, tooling, gauges, test equipment and workholding.
- Select appropriate materials, cutting tools and manufacturing methods to achieve product specifications.
- Support the introduction of new products from prototype through to production.
- Ensure engineering projects are delivered within agreed budgets and timescales.
- Produce and maintain manufacturing documentation to improve process control and consistency.
- Work closely with production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve productivity.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, quality and cost performance.
- Keep up to date with emerging manufacturing technologies and recommend improvements that support future business growth.
About YouWe're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, Production Engineer or CNC Programmer within a precision manufacturing environment.
- Strong CNC programming experience, including 3, 4 and 5-axis machining.
- Experience designing workholding, fixtures and jigs for complex components.
- A sound understanding of machining processes, tooling and manufacturing methods.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to process improvement.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Desirable Experience- Experience within the aerospace or other highly regulated manufacturing sectors.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and modern CNC machining technologies.
- Understanding of quality management systems and process control.
