They will be reportingto the Chief Mechanical Engineer and will provide sound knowledgein Systems Design Integration, being responsible for and havingknowledge in problem resolution, defining requirements; designingand integrating products, physical & functional systems &product systems; performing technical analysis; verifying products,physical & functional systems, and components throughout theproduct lifecycle. As a minimum we're all expectedto attend the workplace for collaboration and other specificreasons, a minimum of three days per week. What you will be doing:You will be responsible for authoring, reviewing, and verifyingMarine and Mechanical designs for power distribution systems; youwill: • Design of systems using Systems Engineering principalsincluding the use of Robust Design tools & techniques toachieve optimum solutions at product and sub-system level. •Problem resolution experience including ownership of, for example:root cause investigations, problem reports, Red Tops, Safety AlertReports (SARs), Quality Concerns, Major Quality Investigations(MQIs), Drawing Alteration Requests (DARs). Dealing with ambiguity.• Applying knowledge of the importance of determining, managing& flowing system level requirements. • Planning and managementof product change, design technical approval and technicalinvestigations. • Verifying that the system meets the requirementsand ownership of standardisation reports. • Good inter-personal andpresentation skills. Ability to communicate with and influence alllevels including the customer. • Work with and co-ordinate extended(i.e. not necessarily co-located) multi-disciplinary teams. Specifically, the Principal MechanicalEngineer must: Be educated to degree level or equivalent in anappropriate engineering discipline with experience in designtechniques. • Strong technical knowledge in mechanical designmethodologies and understand crossdiscipline engineering conceptswhich include but are not limited to manufacturing engineering,aerodynamics, thermodynamics, thermal and mechanical analysis, costengineering and product definition. • An ability to apply logical,analytical, and innovative thinking on a range of technicalproblems and make balanced decisions across technical and businessparameters. • Knowledge and experience of product integrity /liability and certification frameworks. • Good communication andpresentation skills at all levels of the organisation. It would beadvantageous if you: • Are professionally registered as anIncorporated or Chartered Engineer or be working towards gaining aprofessional status. • Have knowledge and experience in the use ofSiemens NX and Teamcenter. • Are experienced in designing equipmentto operate to naval, military, or similar environmental orregulatory standards.
