Spencer Ogden on behalf of a leading global offshore wind turbine manufacturer is seeking an experienced Strategic Procurement Specialist to support critical sourcing and supplier management projects.
Job Title: Strategic Procurement Specialist
Location: West Midlands (Hybrid)
Contract: 6-Month Rolling Contract
Rate: Competitive Day Rate (Inside IR35) (£400 - £450)
Industry: Renewable Energy / Offshore Wind
About the Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of the renewable energy sector in a high-impact role that directly supports global supply chain resilience and cost optimisation.
You'll be working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, responsible for leading sourcing initiatives, negotiating contracts, and delivering robust supplier strategies across high-value direct components.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic sourcing and negotiations for direct material categories, including aerospace and industrial components.
  • Conduct cost breakdowns and total cost of acquisition (TCA) analysis to drive cost savings.
  • Manage end-to-end procurement strategies and supplier selection processes.
  • Support bid preparation by aligning supplier capability and cost with project needs.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms to minimise commercial risk and ensure continuity of supply.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and project management teams to align procurement with project deliverables.
  • Drive value engineering and resourcing strategies across global supply bases.
  • Monitor and report procurement KPIs and project spend.
    What We’re Looking For
  • 10+ years’ experience in strategic procurement, commodity management, or direct sourcing.
  • Strong commercial acumen with proven contract negotiation skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes and cost/value engineering.
  • Ability to work independently and manage supplier relationships across global, matrixed organisations.
  • Advanced Excel skills (data analysis, cost modelling).
  • Experience working on large-scale, project-based procurement in technical or engineering environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree essential; CIPS and/or Master’s degree preferred.
    Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Strategic sourcing / spend analysis
  • Direct procurement (aerospace, industrial, or engineering components)
  • Cost breakdown analysis & TCO modelling
  • Supplier relationship management (SRM)
  • Risk management in global supply chains
  • Working knowledge of contractual T&Cs and bid support
