Our client is a leading manufacturer of precision manufactured rail components and systems, combining world class engineering with UK supply chain expertise. We are seeking a dynamic Site Production Manager to oversee all production operations at their Manchester site.

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Director, you’ll be responsible for ensuring safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets are met while leading a culture of continuous improvement. Key priorities include developing your team, driving lean initiatives, and managing the smooth transfer of processes and equipment from other sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day production operations, ensuring HSE compliance.

  • Deliver on KPIs for safety, quality, cost, and output.

  • Drive process improvements and lean initiatives.

  • Support talent development and performance management.

  • Manage staffing, training, and workforce planning.

  • Coordinate with Finance, HR, and other site leaders.

    About You

    We’re looking for a driven leader with strong manufacturing experience and a proven ability to influence, inspire, and deliver results.

    Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • HND or equivalent experience in Production, Engineering, or related field.

  • Green Belt qualification or equivalent experience.

  • Proven leadership in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment (rail, aerospace, automotive, MRO, etc.).

  • Excellent understanding of lean principles, process improvement, and team development.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Epicor ERP, and modern communication tools (e.g. MS Teams).

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage stakeholders at all levels.

    Desirable

  • Experience working with trade unions.

  • Previous involvement in facility start-ups, transitions, or change management projects.
