We are March……… the UKs leading provider of critical engineering services. Our expertise as a multi-disciplinary engineering partner across infrastructure, process and digital services has led to long term partnerships with leading organisations in everything from food and drink and utilities to high-security industries such as defence, aerospace and nuclear.

Due to continued growth, we are now looking to recruit a Senior Project Manager to join the infrastructure team based out of our Burton Upon Trent office.

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of projects supporting their team from interception to handover, achieving compliance with company policies and industry regulations. This is a pivotal role which requires strong leadership to support the Operations Director deliver profitable growth for an already successful business.

The type of projects you will be leading are MEP services to rail Depots (both new build and extensions/refurbs, including offices, sidings and the depot itself. Project values ranging from £5m to £20m, all based in England.

Key Responsibilities:

Overseeing the entire project lifecycle from inception to completion, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, to the project specification and to the required quality standards of both the client and the company

Monitoring and controlling project budgets, ensuring financial efficiency and accountability for the project’s performance financially.

With support from the commercial team, manage change effectively, recognise early signs of delay and manage our risks by ensuring compliance with our contractual obligations on how to deal with delay. Set robust procurement targets for the procurement team. Ultimately maximising the profitability of the project.

Ensuring the design process of the project is completed efficiently and in line with the employers requirements

Acting as the main point of contact for all stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and community members

Hiring, training, and mentoring project managers and team members to build a cohesive and capable project team to achieve the businesses pipeline and future objectives

Identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure project success, by collaboratively engaging all parties in such methodologies

Ensuring all project activities comply with relevant regulations and safety standards

Maintaining high standards of quality throughout the project, ensuring inspections are conducted, the necessary handover paperwork is completed and preparing reports

Skills and Experiences:

Ability to plan, organise, and oversee rail projects efficiently and to specification 

Strong culture with an assertive and proactive ability to ensure compliance and achieve project procedures

Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders 

Capability to lead and motivate a team to achieve project goals and key milestones 

Analytical skills to identify and resolve issues during projects 

Ensuring projects are completed within specified timelines 

Understanding of rail systems, rail regulations, and industry standards 

Identifying and mitigating risks associated with rail projects 

Liaising with contractors and suppliers to achieve favourable outcomes 

Proficiency in budgeting and financial management 

Ability to adapt to changing project requirements 

Ability to use Microsoft office programmes, company quality documents and document control platforms

Typically, 5 or more years of experience in rail project management 

Experience with various rail projects, including depots, trackside and London Underground

Previous roles in leading project teams and managing complex projects successfully 

Extensive knowledge of rail transit systems and experience executing rail projects with DC power, Earthing, MEPH system, Oil recovery, Sanding etc.

Specific Qualifications

Typically, a Bachelor's degree, HNC or HND in Building Services, Construction Management, or a related field

CIBSE MIET advantageous,  

Sentinel Pass advantageous, Rail medical advantageous, PTS advantageous
