As part ofNautIQ Solutions team, they will be working closely with otherengineering disciplines to design Low Voltage Power DistributionSystems. Currently work is focused on designing Complex, PowerDense Switchboards for Naval Applications, combined with anexpanding control system portfolio following business optimisation,acquisition and partnering opportunities within the company. Inaddition, as part of Rolls-Royce's pathway to net-zero the team isalso starting to develop low voltage dc hybrid propulsion systems,combining Rolls-Royce diesel generators and batteries into acomplete dc system offering that includes the Integrated PlatformManagement Systems. What you will be doing:You will be responsible for authoring, reviewing, andsubstantiating Marine Mechanical design definitions for powerdistribution systems; you will: • Prepare, develop, and maintainthe 3D master CAD model, technical drawing, and relevantdocumentation in accordance with company procedures, engineeringdrawing standards, design intent (fit, form, function),manufacturing & build capability, project costs, timescales,and quality requirements. • Work as part of a multi-discipline teamto ensure new and revised component definitions are fit for purpose(meets design intent, manufacturable etc.) • Create specialisedbespoke CAD models for analysis purposes and the management,update, and incorporation of Drawing Alteration Requests. • Producetolerance stack-ups to aid new product creation & validationand to support inservice investigation work. • Actively promote,encourage, and support the identification and implementation ofcontinuous improvement (of tools, processes, methods, and guidancematerial). Specifically, aMechanical Design Engineer must: • Be educated to degree level orequivalent in a mechanical field with experience in designtechniques. • Have proven experience in Mechanical design using 2Dand 3D CAD to develop optimised design solutions. • Highly numeratewith good technical and analytical skills, problem-solving abilityand capable of systems level thinking. Excellent communication,written, interpersonal and presentation skills, and will need to beable to work effectively in a team environment. • Able to workaccurately and at pace. Driven to succeed and can take the lead inidentifying project requirements, specifying, and executingpackages of work. • Have appropriate engineering experience inconceptual and detail design, detail drafting methods and a goodunderstanding of manufacturing techniques. • Be able to work bothindividually and as part of a team to meet project deadlines. •Experienced in using Siemens NX and Teamcenter is essential. •Experienced in using ISO/British Standard and/or ASME Y14.5Mdrawing standards is essential. It would be advantageous if you: •Are professionally registered as an Incorporated or CharteredEngineer or be working towards gaining a professional status. • Areexperienced in designing equipment to operate to naval, military,or similar environmental or regulatory standards. • Demonstrableunderstanding of process driven drawing change control andassociated configuration management principles.
