We are March……… the UKs leading provider of critical engineering services. Our expertise as a multi-disciplinary engineering partner across infrastructure, process and digital services has led to long term partnerships with leading organisations in everything from food and drink and utilities to high-security industries such as defence, aerospace and nuclear.

Due to continued growth, we are now looking to recruit a Senior Commercial Manager to join the infrastructure team based out of our offices in Burton Upon Trent. As the Senior Commercial Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial and commercial aspects for part of the Infrastructure business.

You will be responsible for estimating and bid writing whilst supporting the team with their Business Development endeavours, compliance with company policies and industry regulations. This is a pivotal role which requires strong leadership to support the Operations Director deliver profitable growth for an already successful business.

Our Infrastructure team deliver M&E projects for customers in Defence, Retail, Rail, Commercial, Industrial and Healthcare sectors across England. with projects ranging from <£1m up to £40m.

Key Responsibilities:

Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers in line with the Group Commercial Policy.

Disseminate the key contractual mechanisms and notifications to the project team and advise on how administer the contract.

Ensure all contractual obligations are met and manage any amendments or disputes.

Identify potential risks during tender stage and capture within the risk register. Develop mitigations plans where required.

Support the Operations Director with risk identification and mitigation at both project and business level

Contribute to the strategic direction of the company and support long-term growth initiatives.

Monitor and control costs to ensure the project is completed within budget 

Resolve challenges, disputes, or issues that may arise during the project lifetime.

Ensure the projects are properly managed including adequate budgets, control of costs, and prepare comprehensive CVR’s.

Ensure changes / variations are properly identified, costed and agreed timeously, ensuring that March’s entitlement is adequately recovered.

Ensure financial targets and forecasts are met and provide regular updates to senior management.

Skills and Experiences:

Proven track record of managing the commercial aspects of MEP projects from <£1m to £40m.

Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Commercial Manager

Experience of MEP building services (alongside experienced teams and technical personnel) including but not limited to LV & HV infrastructure, lighting, small power, data networks, HVAC, LTHW & renewables (desirable).

Outstanding listening, questioning, and consulting skills

Outstanding people management skills

Ability to communicate and network with people at all levels

Specific Qualifications

Full UK driving license

Passionate and experienced Commercial Manager with a proven track record in client management, stakeholder management and problem solving.

Relevant Degree or equivalent professional qualification.

Membership of a recognised professional body (desirable).
