We are a leading UK provider of critical engineering services, known for delivering high-quality, multi-disciplinary expertise across infrastructure, process, and digital sectors. Our long-standing partnerships span industries including food and beverage, utilities, defence, aerospace, and nuclear.

Due to ongoing growth, we are looking to appoint a Senior Commercial Manager to support our expanding Infrastructure team based in Burton upon Trent. This is a key leadership role, focused on the financial and commercial success of major infrastructure projects.

Role Overview
As Senior Commercial Manager, you will take responsibility for contract management, estimating, bid writing, and commercial oversight. You’ll play a strategic role in supporting business development activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies, and driving profitable growth in collaboration with the Operations Director.

Our Infrastructure team delivers M&E projects across Defence, Retail, Rail, Commercial, Industrial, and Healthcare sectors. Projects typically range in value from under £1m to £40m.

Key Responsibilities



Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers

Advise project teams on contractual mechanisms and ensure effective administration

*

Identify commercial risks at tender stage and develop mitigation plans

*

Support risk management at both project and business levels

*

Maintain cost control and budget oversight across all assigned projects

*

Prepare and present detailed Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)

*

Ensure all project changes and variations are properly identified, valued, and agreed in a timely manner

*

Resolve commercial issues and ensure fulfilment of all contractual obligations

*

Contribute to long-term strategic planning and business growth initiatives

*

Provide regular financial updates and performance reporting to senior management

Key Skills & Experience

*

At least 5 years’ experience in a senior commercial management role within M&E project delivery

*

Proven track record managing projects ranging from <£1m to £40m

*

Strong understanding of MEP services, including LV & HV infrastructure, lighting, small power, data networks, HVAC, LTHW, and renewables (desirable)

*

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

*

Strong team management experience and commercial acumen

*

Full UK driving licence

Salary: Up to £75,000 per annum

Car Allowance: £6,600 per annum

*

Pension: 6% employer contribution

*

Life Insurance: 4x annual salary

Annual Leave: 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays

*

Sick Pay: 4 weeks full pay, 4 weeks half pay

*

Probationary Period: 6 months

Notice Period: 3 months

Pay Frequency: Monthly
