Senior Application Engineer(m/f/d) (Aerospace)

Job Summary

Location: Leamington Spa 

Contract Type: Permanent 

Reporting Line: Technical Manager / Team Leader 

Work Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

What You Will Do

Work with Altair’s strategic Aerospace & Defence clients to solve problems, create value, improve growth, and maximise business efficiency and profitability through the implementation of Altair’s product offering.

Performance Areas 

Work closely with Account Managers throughout the sales cycle: from the strategy and account planning to the post-sales phases. Deliver technical content to customers including presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations for both long-term and short-term opportunities.  Establish a long term and sustainable relationship with the assigned accounts, aligning Altair solutions with the client’s key business initiatives. Be viewed by the customer as their trusted advisor and point of contact for all technical activities. Meet new people and find new contacts to expand our footprint at new and existing customers.  Identify areas of opportunity at the account to displace competition, add products, add users, and expand usage globally.  Be the voice of the customer by taking their key requirements to the Altair product development teams, influence Altair product roadmap and drive competitive solution positioning.  Contribute to account-based marketing strategies, drive technology deployment and adoption including partner solutions.  Use technical product knowledge to identify customer pain points, assess technical needs, understand customer’s current infrastructure and engineering workflows.  Create and deliver compelling demonstrations of Altair’s solutions to add value to a customer’s business.  Where required, provide customers with training on Altair’s products.  Stay current with the latest software releases and work with the software team to help guide future product development. 

What You Will Need 

Qualifications 

Master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering Full UK Driving license  UK Citizen (incl. UK passport) 

Experience 

A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in an aerospace OEM or Tier 1 Aerospace Supplier  Experience using commercial CAE tools within an engineering environment. Experience using Altair HyperWorks, OptiStruct, RADIOSS, or other CAE simulation software involving real world, industry level applications.  Familiarity with Aerospace processes and standards (Eg, Regulations, MMPDS).  Logical problem-solving approach and the ability to clearly communicate the situation and proposed solution to the customer.  Familiarity with numerical solution techniques used in FEA.  Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites. 

Preferred Requirements 

Diverse use of CAE tools across multiple disciplines is a plus.  Experience with programming languages (TCL/Python or similar).  FEA-based optimisation techniques applied to composite and metallic structures. Experience working in a software company in a Pre-sales role.
