The Role


As a Satellite Planner, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be part of the Aurora Babcock Network Infrastructure and Planning Team. The role involves creating and maintaining Advanced Extremely High Frequency communication plans to support UK Maritime Fleet assets.

Day-to-day, you’ll be working with cutting edge technology to support a global military network.

Act as the Network Operations subject matter expert for (Advanced Extremely High Frequency) AEHF and (Super Higher Frequency) SHF, including planning, Comm Plan production/delivery, Terminal Control operation, report generation & Crypto solutions.


Provide Network/Satellite resource’s, to meet the needs of the Customer.
Ensure the optimum solution for the delivery of orders while considering the efficient use of network resources.
Produce/maintain all processes/procedures/training material in support of Advanced Extremely High Frequency Planning and security.
Act as the main POC to liaise with the Babcock Crypto team on Advanced Extremely High Frequency Crypto matters and the endorsement of fleet, Pipeline delivery.

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days onsite and 2 days working from home.

Essential Experience of the Satellite Planner

Good understanding of satellite communications including Advanced Extremely High Frequency and SHF.


Good knowledge of Cryptographic technology and usage
Confidence to give advice to internal and MoD departments, primarily Fleet (Submarine) to enable effective use of the Advanced Extremely High Frequency / Super Higher Frequency NEST Network/Satellite resource’s, to meet the needs of the Customer.

Qualifications for the Satellite Planner

Good Understanding of ITIL processes.


Confidence in briefing on technical matters.
Being able to provide the optimum solution for the delivery of orders while considering the efficient use of network resources.

Security Clearance


The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. However, you must be able to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) once in post.
