The Company

Our client is at the cutting edge of Science and Engineering services, tackling complex projects across energy, process industry, utilities, and the aerospace and transportation sectors. They are seeking talented and motivated individuals to join our successful safety and risk consultancy team to help deliver high-quality results to our clients. As part of their services, they undertake availability, reliability and maintainability (ARM or RAM) assessments for their datacentre and process industry clients.

The Job

As a Reliability Engineer in a consultancy environment, you will provide expert guidance to clients across various industries to improve the availability and reliability of their assets and systems. Your role will involve conducting in-depth predictive modelling and reliability assessments to identify improvement opportunities and to meet stringent availability design targets.

You'll work closely with clients to develop and implement data-driven solutions, drawing on industry best practices and reliability engineering methodologies such as FMEA, Reliability and Availability Modelling, and Fault Tree analysis. This position requires strong communication skills, adaptability, and a focus on delivering high quality deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interrogate Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and electrical single-line diagrams to develop Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs).

  • Analyse complex systems to identify failure modes and perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).

  • Conduct Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) analyses to inform decision-making and optimise system reliability.

  • Perform Availability, Reliability, and Maintainability (ARM) analyses to ensure project targets are achieved.

  • Utilise reliability software e.g. Isograph Reliability Workbench / FaultTree+ for advanced reliability and risk modelling.

  • Collaborate with clients to understand requirements and deliver tailored solutions.

  • Mentor junior team members.

  • Manage projects effectively, including planning, execution, and reporting, ensuring alignment with client expectations.

  • Provide technical input and recommendations to improve system reliability and performance.

  • Communicate findings and insights clearly through reports and presentations.

    Requirements

    The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated and able to prioritise work. It is essential that the candidate has the experience to:

  • A minimum of 5 years of reliability engineering experience, preferably in a consultancy or at an operating company within high-hazard industries or critical infrastructure sectors such as data centres, energy, or utilities.

  • Proven experience in conducting RAM analyses or ARM analyses.

  • Proficiency in Reliability software, preferably Isograph Reliability Workbench (FaultTree+) and Isograph Availability Workbench. Experience in similar tools like Maros are also desirable.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels, both with clients and in the office.

    Qualifications and Desirable Skills

  • A degree in Engineering, Reliability, or a related field is preferred.

  • Experience in conducting reliability assessments for data centres or other critical infrastructure e.g. energy or utilities.

  • Experience in working in the energy sector.

  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices related to reliability engineering.

  • Adaptability and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
