We are lookingfor enthusiastic graduates with a passion for simulation andanalysis to join our team. You will be provided with all thetraining required to develop into a Nuclear Core and SystemsPerformance Engineer. In this role you will perform analysis of theNaval Reactor Plant and in doing so develop a broad understandingof core thermal hydraulics, reactor plant operation and protectionsystems. This is an outstanding opportunity to work at theforefront of reactor performance analysis, supporting thein-service fleet as well as developing future reactor core andsystems designs. Due to the sensitive nature of our work, this rolewill be based permanently at our offices in Derby. There is anopportunity for occasional business travel to our waterfrontlocations in Plymouth, Faslane and Barrow-In-Furness. WhyRolls-Royce? What you will be doing: You will carry out fluid flowand heat transfer analysis to support robust design evaluation ofthe Naval Reactor Plant, inluding: Using a combination ofcommercial and in-house developed codes and methods to assessprimary systems and their components, determining the consequencesof a variety of normal operation and accident scenarios. Performingdevelopment, verification and validation of models used in theanalysis of the nuclear plant. They are an essential component of our assessmentprocess and are fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles.To be successful in this role, you will also need to: Be qualifiedto degree level or equivalent in a STEM-related subject e.g.Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics or similar.Have a good understanding of fundamental engineering concepts and asolid understanding of the principles of fluid dynamics and heattransfer. Have an interest in programming or building anddeveloping analytical models. Be able to provide clear, concise andaccurate technical requirements in written and verbal form. Haveexcellent communication skills and be highly driven, striving tomaintain excellent delivery performance.
