A major food manufacturer in the Redditch area is looking for a Quality Technologist to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity with a company who supply to some of the biggest clients in the industry, whether it be a variety of seafood, sauces, condiments and much more!

The ideal candidate will be a hard-working and adaptable Technologist with a strong technical background within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, preferably food related. Operating in a busy and high-speed environment and reporting into the Quality Assurance Manager, you will have strong internal auditing skills and a solid quality toolkit to implement

This Quality team currently operates on a 15:00 – 23:30 shift
 
Role: Quality Technologist
Location: Redditch
Salary: £13.84 per hour + £6.50 per day shift allowance
Shift: 15:00 – 23:30
 
The key responsibilities of the Quality Technologist role will be:

Conduct internal audits across key areas, including GMP, CCPs, labeling, date coding, traceability, hygiene, fabrication, product quality, documentation, and production processes.
Ensure audits are fully documented and results are communicated effectively, including root cause analysis and follow-ups to prevent recurring issues.
Investigate food safety, quality, or legal concerns, gathering full traceability data and reporting findings to management.
Ensure compliance with third-party audit requirements and customer codes of practice by following QA procedures and systems.
Oversee quality control systems, including Olympus Auto verification, metal detectors, and check weighers, ensuring proper setup before production and offering operational support as needed.
Act as the primary contact for operational departments requiring food safety, legality, and quality advice in day-to-day factory operations.
Conduct thorough investigations for out-of-specification results, customer complaints, and foreign body incidents (e.g., metal or glass contamination). Perform root cause analyses to implement corrective actions and prevent future occurrences.
Manage non-conformance procedures, including issuing and overseeing documented non-conformances, concessions, hold notifications, and quarantined goods to ensure product and process control.
Perform routine and new process validations in line with HACCP requirements and attend product/process trials to facilitate smooth launches.
Support the complaints reduction plan, collaborating with operations to drive product quality improvements.
Be a key member of the audit traceability team, ensuring effective cross-department communication and seamless shift handovers.
Provide mentorship and support to QA Technicians, helping to uphold high-quality standards across the businessThe key requirements of the Quality Technologist will be:

Minimum two years of experience in a food industry production, QA, or technical role.
Fluent in English with strong communication skills.
Food Safety qualification (Level 2 or higher).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Experience as an internal auditor within a food production environment
