Job Title: Quality Technician/Quality Engineer

Location: Chorley, Lancashire
Salary: £14/hr (junior) - up to £35k (experienced)

We are working with a well-established precision engineering and manufacturing business based in Chorley, Lancashire, who are looking to expand their team with a Quality Technician/Quality Engineer. With a comprehensive manufacturing process including CNC machining, welding, fabrication, fitting, and assembly, the business continues to innovate and deliver high-quality solutions for its clients.

The Role: As a Quality Technician/Quality Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring that customer requirements are clearly understood and that relevant manufacturing processes are accurately followed. This role will require you to oversee the inspection and testing stages, audit processes, and ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review customer drawings and specifications to ensure the correct manufacturing processes are set up.

  • Establish, manage, and monitor the inspection and test plan (ITP) for each job.

  • Audit processes to ensure all in-process checks are completed correctly.

  • Compile and present all relevant documentation to the customer, ensuring it aligns with project requirements.

  • Investigate non-conformances in the manufacturing process, working closely with the production and engineering teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

    The Person: To succeed in this role, you will need to be a strong team player with a solid foundation in mechanical engineering and manufacturing, either through education, apprenticeships, or relevant work experience. A background in auditing and investigating non-conformances using problem-solving techniques will be beneficial, as will experience in a bespoke manufacturing environment.

    Key skills and experience required:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering and manufacturing processes.

  • Experience in auditing and investigating non-conformances.

  • Knowledge of welding, machining, and assembly processes.

  • Experience in creating Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) is a significant advantage.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
