We have ensured iCOMAT is made up of people with the drive and imagination to grow a business that will revolutionise the use of composite materials to enable the next generation of lightweight cars, planes and spacecraft.

We build and operate automated factories for composite materials, delivering components to Tier 1 and OEMs. The business has 3 main divisions that focus on the development of automated production machines, development of software design and production tools and lastly the operation of the factory.

We're now working with >25 customers (multiple leading OEMs), and earlier this year we completed the largest ever Series A in composites manufacturing (link). This investment will fuel a significant scale-up plan that will see the business multiply in size over the next 2-3 years and expand operations into Europe and the US.

The business currently has facilities in Gloucester UK (Factory 1), Bristol UK (Hardware R&D Centre) and in Athens GR (Software R&D Centre)

We are seeking a skilledPurchasing Managerto join our team and lead our procurement efforts. The Purchasing Manager will play a critical role in managing ICOMAT's supply chain, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, components, and services essential for our operations. The successful candidate will possess strong negotiation and supplier management skills and a commitment to supporting our mission of sustainable innovation.

What will you be doing?

  • Supplier Management:Identify, evaluate, and establish partnerships with reliable suppliers to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality materials and components. Foster long-term supplier relationships that align with ICOMAT’s sustainability and performance objectives.
  • Procurement Strategy:Develop and implement procurement strategies that optimize cost, quality, and supply efficiency. Analyse market trends to make informed purchasing decisions and manage risks in supply chain operations.
  • Negotiation and Contract Management:Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts with suppliers to secure optimal conditions and cost savings for the business. Manage contracts to ensure compliance and evaluate suppliers’ performance regularly.
  • Inventory and Demand Management:Coordinate with internal stakeholders to accurately forecast and meet material requirements based on production schedules. Manage inventory levels to reduce costs and minimize material wastage while avoiding shortages.
  • Cost Control and Budgeting:Monitor and manage purchasing budgets. Track expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or timelines.
  • Supplier Audits and Compliance:Conduct regular audits to ensure suppliers adhere to regulatory standards and ICOMAT’s quality expectations. Ensure that all purchasing activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Collaboration and Cross-functional Support:Work closely with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to meet operational goals. Support new product development by sourcing innovative materials that meet performance and sustainability requirements.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:Utilize ERP systems and other data tools to maintain accurate records of purchases, inventory, and supplier performance. Prepare reports on procurement activities, identifying areas for improvement.


What do we need from you?

  • Highly experienced in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration (recognised certification e.g., CIPS, CPM is a plus).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, ideally within the advanced manufacturing, aerospace, or automotive industry.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and have experience working as a semi- technical buyer preferred.
  • Familiarity with composite materials, precision manufacturing processes, and industry-specific regulatory standards is desirable.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and procurement software.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to work, capable of thriving in a fast-paced, innovative environment
