Job Purpose

The role serves as a focal point for resolving complex technical issues related to the design, assembly, and testing processes of production hardware. It provides crucial engineering support to sustainment and new product introduction teams, playing a vital role in implementing new products and processes and assessing aftermarket products.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Production Data Analysis: Analyse production data to identify improvement opportunities and maintain process control, enhancing efficiency and reducing costs.
  • System Performance Improvement: Support product and process changes to enhance system performance.
  • Technical Input for New Programs: Provide technical input using APQP techniques to support new programs and PPAP submissions.
  • Product Integrity Investigations: Gather engineering justifications for investigations and communicate findings with suppliers and customers.
  • Test Equipment Specification: Specify new test equipment for servo valve applications.
  • Testing Issue Isolation: Collaborate with the sustainment team to isolate testing issues across software, electronics, and hydraulics.
  • GD&T Analysis: Conduct GD&T analysis of assemblies and components for non-conforming parts.
  • Special Circumstances and Challenges
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with diverse teams and manage tight deadlines for changes and supplier requests.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent; significant relevant experience may be considered.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in mechanical or aerospace engineering, with knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic principles.
  • Process Documentation: Proficiency in PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow Diagrams.
  • Assembly and Testing Expertise: Experience in developing assembly and test processes and tooling designs.
  • Communication Skills: Strong presentation and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks.
  • Requirements Management: Experience in validation, verification, and comparison testing.
  • Obsolescence Management: Knowledge of obsolescence management for various components.
  • Automation Support: Support automation projects and design specialized tooling.
  • Data Analysis Proficiency: Six Sigma trained or equivalent, with data analysis skills using Minitab.
