Job Title: NDT Engineer- Level 3

Salary: up to £60,000 per annum dependent upon experience

Location: Ramsgate, Kent

Aeropeople have partnered with a global designer and manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices who are now looking to hire a permanent NDT Engineer (Level 3), to be based at their site in Ramsgate. The successful candidate would be expected to be on site 5 days per week.

They are a leading global provider of industrial technology solutions serving a diverse set of attractive niche markets, recognised as a global provider of third-party MRO services to commercial, regional and general aviation customers as well as military, helicopter and business jet markets. As a global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices they offer specialised services for more than 5,000 components over a variety of aircraft systems with capabilities covering aircraft windings, electrical power, hydraulic components, landing gear and safety equipment.

As a Non Destructive Test Engineer you will be responsible for the NDT inspection of aircraft components, using your experience and eye for detail to make a real contribution towards aviation safety.

This role is working a 39 hour week. Hours of work are Monday- Thursday: 8am- 4.30pm and Friday: 8am- 4pm. A 9 day fortnight is available to those who want it.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Be qualified to EN4179/NAS410 NDT Level 3 in Magnetic Particle and Penetrant Testing.

  • Interpret codes, standards and other contractual documents

  • Assume technical responsibility for the NDT facility and staff.

  • Selecting the NDT method and technique for a specific application.

  • Preparing and verifying the adequacy of procedures in the specified method.

  • Approve NDT procedures and other NDT related work instructions for technical adequacy.

  • Develop training plans and providing the necessary training.

  • Be qualified to EN4179/NAS410 NDT Level 2 in Magnetic Particle and Penetrant Testing

  • Be capable of auditing outside agencies to ensure the requirements of the written practice are met.

  • Carry out daily, weekly and monthly control checks.

  • Help monitor and maintain stock levels of consumables.

  • Maintain the 5S standard required.

  • Ensure quality standards are maintained in accordance with CAA, EASA, FAA and company procedures.

  • Hold a stamp authorising you to sign off work based on your level of competence.

  • Conduct substantiation/validation trials on new NDT consumable products or equipment.

  • Conduct internal audits of the NDT facility.

  • Conduct annual operator proficiency reviews.

  • If required, conduct near vision and colour perception eye tests.

  • Provide technical expertise to NDT Level 1 or 2 personnel with regards to indications/flaws obtained.

    About You:

  • EN4179/NAS410 Non Destructive Testing Magnetic Particle Testing Qualification.

  • EN4179/NAS410 Non Destructive Testing Penetrant Testing Qualification.

  • Experience within an aerospace Non Destructive Testing environment.

  • Experience in reading and interpreting manufacturers overhaul and repair manuals.

  • Experience of utilising MT Bench equipment with fluorescent detecting media.

  • Experience of utilising PT Fluorescent water washable and fluorescent post emulsifiable systems.

  • Experience of developing audit checklists applicable to the NDT facility and conducting audits.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all employees and external customers/auditors.

  • Ability to work under pressure.
