Role Overview:

We are seeking aNaval Architectto support the development of advanced Maritime platforms for the world’s most demanding customers.

You will contribute to the design, analysis, and integration of cutting-edge naval vessels, many of which will be optionally or entirely Autonomous, ensuring they meet stringent performance, survivability, and operational requirements. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-profile maritime programs and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams at the cutting edge of this rapidly expanding field.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to the design and development of maritime platforms, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Use 3D CAD modelling tools to develop concept, preliminary and detailed design solutions, working with the other design houses and shipbuilders.
  • Conduct hydrodynamic, structural, and stability analysis to optimise vessel performance in challenging environments.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate propulsion, autonomy, AI, weaponry and survivability technologies.
  • Utilise digital modelling, simulation and other tools to refine hull and propulsion efficiency.
  • Support design reviews, prototyping, and testing of naval platforms.
  • Engage with supply chain partners, shipbuilders, and government stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of design requirements.
  • Stay updated on emerging naval architecture technologies and industry best practices.

Skills Required:

  • Experience in ship design, including hull form development, propulsion, and structural analysis.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software for naval architecture (e.g., Paramarine, Rhino, Maxsurf, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Siemens NX).
  • Knowledge of hydrodynamics, seakeeping, and stability principles.
  • Awareness of Defence maritime regulations.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and contribute to integrated maritime system designs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication.

Skills Desired:

  • Experience with high-speed craft, amphibious operations, or military vessels.
  • Knowledge of stealth technology, survivability enhancements, and autonomous maritime systems.
  • Technical writing abilities.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Pre-screening to Start BPSS.
  • Clearance for Role SC.
