Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.

The Role

The Module Leader will be responsible for developing exterior trim projects along with the customer design/styling team. You will be expected to cover all the feasibilities for the given integration concept surfaces to take it to CMF Theme Surfaces. with FHP & PHPs defined, the scope of work will cover the content of BIW/Exterior and Interior commodities shared in the brief. You will have to work closely with the Engagement Managers Director, CoEs, TA, Customers to ensure service delivery is achieved.

Area of Responsibility

Adhere to agreed governance model & maintain and review dashboard with customer

Weekly reports to customer: Progress, Plan Vs Actual, Roadblock/issues & resolutions

Track change management

Maintain a team working structure

You will generate legal, feasible robust design concepts through the development phase. The designs will be optimised before B-release (production tooling) to meet the following

Project weight and cost targets

Provide Design Check Property (DCP): Managing & supporting full Exterior Trim property builds (including sourcing all parts and fixings) From EDSPS,6,7 & 8 data drops to support the engineering maturation and identification of issues.

Be responsible for design of subsystems likefront & rear bumper facia, badges, side sill, FEM & glazing.

Provide DMU & quality checks for all parts and to feature within B-release readiness checklist.

Lead cross-functional B-release reviews to ensure alignment across functions. Complete modifications to drawings/CAD based on feedback.

Support relevant engineering investigations through pre-production build phases, identifying route cause and proposing options for technical solutions. (Audit/build/functional/drive feedback/Exec issues etc)

Management, design and release of engineering changes to resolve build issues, audit demerits, validation issues and executive feedback concerns. (AEKO/MMC)

Generate PDM (product description manual) for release to production 8 weeks prior to VFF SiP.

Knowledge / Experience

Exceptional leader, with experience of engineering team management

Experience of product design perhaps involving complex systems integration or the use of multiple technologies specially Door Trims.

Proven track record, Experienced in OEM or tier one component delivery

Knowledge of change control, product definition and change management processes

Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Degree

PRINCE2 or equivalent qualification would be beneficial
