Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Location: Hartlepool

Salary: Circa £42,000 per annum

    Working Hours:

  • 2 Shift Pattern (6 am – 2 pm, 2 pm – 10 pm)

    Job Description:

    As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of factory equipment. Your responsibilities will include preventive and reactive maintenance of machinery, with a strong focus on hydraulics, pneumatics, and fault finding on presses. The successful Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will also be responsible for uploading downtime data and key performance indicators (KPIs) into a system, making this a data-driven role that requires attention to detail and accuracy.

    Main Responsibilities of the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer:

  • Commission and install new plant equipment across the factory.

  • Execute routine preventative maintenance and planned maintenance (PPM) schedules.

  • Quickly respond to and resolve faults on machinery, documenting steps to prevent recurring issues.

  • Ensure all maintenance records and documentation are completed accurately.

  • Build effective relationships with internal departments and liaise with external contractors as necessary.

    Skills & Experience Required:

  • Relevant mechanical maintenance qualification (HNC/HND/ONC or similar).

  • Proven experience in a high-demand manufacturing environment, ideally within FMCG or similar industries.

  • Proficiency in fault diagnostics and troubleshooting on hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

  • Strong mechanical knowledge, particularly in working with presses.

  • Excellent data management skills for tracking machinery downtime and performance.
