  • 4 day working week (3 days in the office, 1 remote)

    Our client is a long-established engineering and manufacturing business operating within the defence and aerospace sectors. They design and produce specialised electronic systems used in demanding environments, with capabilities spanning embedded components, lighting systems, and signal filtering technologies.     The Role:

    As Lead Software Engineer, you'll manage embedded software projects across the full lifecycle—from requirements to delivery. You'll drive technical development, support junior engineers, and contribute to continuous process improvement in a safety-critical environment.

    Requirements:

    Degree in Software Engineering or related subject
    Proven experience in full lifecycle software development in aerospace, military, or automotive
    Proficient in Embedded C and MISRA C
    Experience with 8/16-bit microcontrollers (e.g., PIC18, dsPIC)
    Knowledge of digital hardware and system integration
    Strong debugging, verification, and testing (unit, integration) skills
    Familiar with DO-178C and formal documentation standards
    Strong analytical and communication skillsResponsibilities:

    Lead embedded software development from design through validation
    Deliver high-quality, compliant solutions on time and to spec
    Produce technical documentation in line with industry standards
    Mentor junior staff and collaborate across functions
    Identify and implement improvements to development processes
