We are now looking for a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our Technical Team as a Level 6 Materials Laboratory Technician Apprentice. 
 
The Package
  • Starting salary: £18, 525 per annum, raising to £19,500 after completion of probation (3 months) - this will be paid as an hourly rate.
  • Salary raises to National Minimum Wage after 12 month.
  • Working hours: 37.5 hours per week
     - Monday to Thursday, 8am – 4.30pm 
     - Friday, 6am – 1.30pm 
  • 25 days paid holiday plus bank holidays

What will I be doing as a Laboratory Scientist (Materials) Apprentice?

Reporting to the Quality Manager and working closely with our technical team, you’ll help uphold high standards, ensure accuracy and drive continuous improvement across our operations. If you’re committed to quality, enjoy problem-solving and want to make a meaningful contribution in a dynamic environment, this role could be a fantastic next step! 
  • Ensure precision in weighing raw materials to meet exact product specifications 
  • Get hands-on with concrete mixing and mould preparation, contributing directly to our quality production 
  • Set up, test and fine-tune laboratory equipment to keep everything running smoothly and accurately 
  • Conduct essential lab work to uphold top-quality standards and product compliance 
  • Record and analyse experimental trials, creating insightful reports that drive improvements
  • Keep the workspace organised and efficient, optimising every inch of space 
  • Build connections with our technical team in the USA, staying in close contact for R&D and quality updates 
  • Follow up top quality standards and processes to support a safe, compliant and productive environment

What will you bring?

Qualifications
 
For this position, you'll ideally need to hold a relevant A Level (or equivalent Level 3 qualification) in Mathematics and/or Science (Chemistry or Physics) at a minimum grade C. 

In our experience the most successful apprentices are those who are also driven to find out more about the sector, can be up front about what they do and don’t already know, are considerate, self-reflective, and impatient to learn the job role!

Whilst previous experience is great, we’re not just interested in experience and qualifications; we’re looking for someone with the right attitude and aptitude to fit right in at Resco Products. 
 
About you
  • This is a very hands on and practical role so you should be willing to get stuck in and learn from the offset!
  • You’ll be detail oriented, with a passion for achieving high quality results 
  • Able to identify problems and record observations. 
  • Confident in working to strict deadlines.
  • The ability to think on your feet is crucial due to the environment and nature of the role - you will have good health and safety awareness and be able to work towards strict health and safety guidelines.
  • We’re seeking somebody who loves to be busy and enjoys the practical side of working. If you currently hold some experience of working with tools and technical equipment, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
  • It’s important for you to be a confident communicator and a positive team player, with strong interpersonal skills (both written and verbal). 
To succeed in this apprenticeship, you’ll need bags of enthusiasm, be a fantastic collaborator and be hungry to learn!
 
Please note, because of the location of this position, you must hold a valid UK Driving License and be able to reliably commute to the site every day.

Over 33 months, you will develop your knowledge and skills in your chosen field to become a leader pushing development, knowledge generation and innovation.

You will be provided with 6 hours per week by your employer to conduct learning and training during working hours. This can include theory training (for example, virtual lessons & online learning), alongside practical training (for example shadowing, mentoring, & time spent writing assignments.

You’ll be trained by a team of expert tutors from Tiro as well as an experienced workplace mentor at Resco who, together, will make sure you develop the knowledge, skills, and work habits you’ll need to succeed in your career.

Entry requirements

There are some minimum requirements you’ll need to meet to do an apprenticeship, these are rules set by the UK Government.

You’ll need to be over 18, not in full time education (at time of enrolment), have lived in the UK for 3 years and have the right to work in the UK.

Alongside this you will need to have a minimum of Level 3 qualifications (A-levels, BTECs, or equivalent)ANDrelevant work experience or lab based experience.
