Purpose of the Role

Join the Vehicle Motion team as the Functional Manager - Vehicle Motion Simulation & Objective Testing where you'll hold responsibility for leading, managing and developing a team to ensure processes, systems and tools capability within time and budget. In this pivotal role you will strategically evolve how we develop cars virtually, implementing new technologies and delivery methods. Reporting into the Head of Chassis Dynamics your main responsibilities include:

  1. People/Team management to include project and budget management/forecasting and KPI planning
  2. Strategic direction for virtual vehicle development within R&D
  3. Supervision of your team's application of a broad range of simulation methods including Multibody Dynamics, CFD and 1D Multi Physics plus Software in the Loop (SiL) co-simulation
  4. Supervision of Ride Comfort and Vehicle Dynamics objective measurement and objective target setting

About the Team

The Vehicle Motion department is at the heart of Bentley Motors' product development. Our team specialises in the hardware, software, and calibration of Chassis, Powertrain, and Autonomous Driving systems, ensuring we deliver thrilling experiences to our customers. As Bentley embarks on its Beyond100+ strategy, navigating a rapidly evolving technological landscape, we are committed to maintaining our competitive edge. This is increasingly challenging as we transition from traditional internal combustion engines to electric motor propulsion.


About you - Skills and Experience

  1. Demonstrable experience as a people manager/leading others
  2. Previous experience of Powertrain and Chassis simulation in an Automotive / Motorsport Systems Engineering product development processes (preferably within a multi-brand platform sharing environment)
  3. Strong business awareness with the ability to influence decisions cross functionally, coupled with excellent communication skills
  4. Previous experience demonstrating project and people KPI planning and monitoring as well as resource planning
  5. Project and budget management/forecasting skills
  6. Multibody simulation & model creation experience (not necessarily recent)
  7. SiL integration and co-simulation (including realtime Driver-in-the-Loop applications) experience
  8. An Engineering Degree or equivalent relevant experience
