Job Description

We are now looking to expand our engineering team in Dundee and are seeking a talented Filter Engineer to help develop advanced filter products that meet the needs of our customers in these high-performance sectors.

As a Filter Engineer at Smiths Interconnect, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing filter solutions (RF, EMI, and signal filters) used in a wide range of electronic systems. Working in a collaborative environment, you will lead technical projects from concept to production, ensuring the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to innovative, market-leading technologies used in mission-critical applications, particularly within the aerospace, defense, and telecommunications industries.


Qualifications

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Essential:
    • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
    • Strong experience in filter design (RF, EMI, or signal filters), including proficiency in simulation software (e.g., HFSS, CST, ADS).
    • Experience with test equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
    • A solid understanding of electromagnetic theory, signal integrity, impedance matching, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical solutions.
    • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with customers and team members.
  • Desirable:
    • Postgraduate qualifications or certifications in RF engineering, EMI/EMC, or a specialized filter design field.
    • Experience in the aerospace, defense, or telecommunications industries, with a good understanding of relevant standards (e.g., MIL-STD, ISO).
    • Familiarity with product development lifecycle and engineering change control processes.
