Location: Leeds
Salary: Competitive + Bonus + Medical + 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays
Contract: Permanent | Full Time (36.5 Hours/Week)

About the Company

A long-established and independently owned engineering and manufacturing business based in Leeds. With in-house fabrication, 5-axis machining, and full mechanical and electrical assembly capabilities, they design and build advanced equipment for some of the most regulated industries in the world – including aerospace, nuclear, defence, and corrosion testing sectors.

This is a business that blends heritage with innovation. We’re investing heavily in our future, and the Engineering Manager will play a central role in shaping the design and production engineering functions.

The Role

As Engineering Manager, you’ll lead a team of mechanical, electrical, systems and innovation engineers. You’ll have full ownership of the design process – driving best practice, improving workflows, developing your team, and ensuring the business delivers the highest standards of performance and compliance.

You’ll also be instrumental in:

  • Driving innovation and NPD – combining radical concepts with practical application.

  • Introducing tools and processes to streamline design and reduce lead times.

  • Preparing for the growth of a dedicated Production Engineering function.

  • Supporting cross-functional improvements across design, manufacturing, service, and assembly.

    The Person:

  • Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.

  • Proven background leading multi-discipline engineering teams of Mechanical & Electrical Design Engineers

  • Experience working with complex machinery, pressure systems, or capital equipment.

  • Strong people management and process improvement skills.

  • Knowledge of ASME or PED pressure vessel standards.

  • Experience in regulated industries (Nuclear, Defence, Aerospace Oil & Gas, Subsea, etc.).

  • Familiarity with SolidWorks, PDM, FMEA, PLM or ERP tools.
