Electrical Maintenance Technician

We currently have a great opportunity for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our Thames Water Ring Main Maintenance Team in London.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an electrical maintenance technician to join a close-knit, diverse team, all performing at a high level.

This role offers great learning potential with the ability to cross-skill into other disciplines.

As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our water treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods.

What you'll be doing as an Electrical Maintenance Technician

• Proactively and reactively maintain the electrical assets across the London region.
• Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
• Carrying out service and replacement of assets: Pump motors, electrical circuitry components, contactors, overloads, slip ring assemblies, telemetry outstations, variable speed drives and motor control circuits.
• Supporting the local maintenance teams, carrying out planned and breakdown maintenance activity on electromechanical clean water assets.
• Providing technical advice to the wider team, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and providing training or support for technical trainees if required.
• Undertake fault diagnostics and can resolve issues promptly. 
• Interpret and update Electrical drawings.
• Timely feedback on work carried out daily.
• Monitor processes using the SCADA system and act on alarms as required.

Base Location: Flexible across our London sites, including Merton Well (SW19 2EB), Cricklewood (NW2 6XD), Coppermills (E17 7HE) or Orpington (BR6 0SQ).

Working Pattern or hours: 38 hours Monday- Friday, plus the inclusion onto an out-of-hours Rota for which you will receive additional payment.

All PPE, Tools Plus and Van will be provided.

What you should bring to the role

• Have considerable experience in electrical and systems. A time-served apprenticeship in an engineering sector, NVQ level 3 or greater in electrical engineering.
• You will have qualifications in BS7671 or 18th edition electrical wiring regulations. Experience in maintaining, testing, installing and fault diagnosis on electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
• Experience with 3-phased systems.
• Knowledge and awareness of health and safety policies and processes are essential.
• A good level of fitness is required to be able to work inside 70m deep shafts with vertical ladder access.
• The role will also involve travel in and around central London across the various TWRM sites.
• Participation in a 24/7 out-of-hours standby rota will be required after a suitable period of training and assessment for which you will receive additional payment.
• A full UK driving licence is essential.
• You will need to undertake role-specific training to fulfil any safety and team competency requirements.

• Proactive – take the lead on recommendations and improvements around the site and communicate effectively.
• Must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
• Knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards.

• Competitive salary up to £38,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.
• Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
