Job title:Electrical Control Systems Engineer

Location:Portsmouth.

Salary:£44,605 depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Responsible to the relevant Senior System Engineer (controls) for the conduct of Ship Platform Control System commissioning, operation, maintenance and defect rectification activities on board Royal Navy Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) Aircraft Carriers, Type 45 (T45) Destroyers, Type 23 (T23) Frigates, HUNT class and any contracted tasking, ensuring work is to agreed standards and delivered in the most economical, logical and professional way, with due regard being paid at all times to Safety, Health and the Environment (SHE)
  • Applies depth and breadth of knowledge relating to Electrical LV systems in order to resolve the most complex challenges, issues and faults associated with commissioning, operation and performance of systems
  • Support the Mechanical Services Team on electrical control aspects of main machinery
  • Operate Safe Systems of Work that comply with the company SHE procedures at all times

Your skills and experiences:

  • Typically BTEC Level 3 qualified, up to HNC/HND level Advantages
  • Typically on an EngTech career path, possibly aspiring to IEng registration
  • Familiar with platform management systems and associated sensors and actuators
  • Background in Platform Management system

The Controls Services Team (CST):

The Controls Services Team (CST) is a small part of the larger Electrical Services Team and in addition to the core controls work we also assist in more general electrical work. The CST also is responsible for assisting the Mechanical services team with control aspects of propulsion, steering and stabilisation systems.
